Inmate Text App
If you have a friend or family member currently in prison, the best way to stay connected with them is to use an inmate texting application. These apps have been specifically designed to comply with prison regulations and allow family members and friends to send and receive messages images, photos, eCards video calls, as well as money into their trust accounts in prison. There are also federal inmate apps which offer additional services, like video visits and phone calls.
The JPay application, for example, enables family and friends to easily pay money into the trust account of an inmate as well as pictures, emails as well as eCards, video grams and more. They can also design personal postcards with their own federal inmate text app images. It is a safer, more secure alternative to regular mail.
Another popular texting app for inmates is GettingOut that provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The app is available at select correctional facilities and allows prisoners to upload photos and send messages to friends and family via their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 for a message, and loved ones pay for the data used to view their messages (but not for explicit images). The GettingOut application can be used for uploading photos to Facebook or Foursquare, check-in to Foursquare and then add a YouTube video.
